Work-family balance: A global challenge

Print Share
This introductory chapter first reviews the role of the family in a person's life and the impact of family life on a person's work performance, competencies and career. The authors then give an overview of what it means to be a family-responsible enterprise and the general steps a company must take to become family-responsible. The model they describe has been researched, developed and tested by the ICWF, the International Center for Work and Family at IESE Business School. This model is used in 19 countries to benchmark over 3,900 companies in Europe, South America, North and Central America, Africa and Asia. Lastly, the authors report the main findings in those countries and regions of the world. They end with some conclusions that preface the following chapters of the book.
