As Chairman of Microsoft Europe, Jan Muehlfeit’s job “is to make sure that Microsoft understands Europe better and Europe will hopefully better understand Microsoft.” He engages with governments and policymakers, academics and other societal stakeholders in Brussels and across E.U. member states to make sure that Microsoft listens and contributes to Europe’s agenda. In this interview with IESE Prof. Evgeny Káganer, Muehlfeit indicates that Microsoft’s stance toward the open-source movement is changing, as the software giant embraces the trend toward cloud computing and other innovations.
