In their paper, the authors offer insights into how to stimulate entrepreneurship at a time when today’s starts-ups could be the boost the economy needs to get out of the crisis.

Latin America and the Caribbean are at a clear disadvantage compared to Europe and North America when it comes to business development and stability. It is not because nobody is forming new companies in the region, however. On the contrary, thousands of ventures are created every year. But they tend to be very small and most of them do not survive. Pablo J. Angelelli, a specialist in the development of micro-enterprises and SMEs at the Inter-American Development Bank, and Mª Julia Prats, head of the Department of Entrepreneurship at IESE, have prepared a report containing recommendations for the promotion of entrepreneurial activity in Latin American and Caribbean countries. The goal is to help newly formed companies survive and prosper.
