Consolidating New Ventures: The Key to Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

Latin America and the Caribbean are at a clear disadvantage compared to Europe and North America when it comes to business development and stability. It is not because nobody is forming new companies in the region, however. O­n the contrary, thousands of ventures are created every year. But they tend to be very small and most of them do not survive. Pablo J. Angelelli, a specialist in the development of micro-enterprises and SMEs at the Inter-American Development Bank, and Mª Julia Prats, head of the Department of Entrepreneurship at IESE, have prepared a report containing recommendations for the promotion of entrepreneurial activity in Latin American and Caribbean countries. The goal is to help newly formed companies survive and prosper.
