Should Investors Have a Say on CEO’s Pay?

Since 2000 there has been an increasing trend in investor activism and recently more focus on compensation matters. Since 2011 the Say-on-Pay law has been adopted in the US: Shareholders have a right to vote and therefore approve or reject the pay received by the CEO. This empowers shareholders, who have now an automatic mechanism to punish a CEO for bad performance.
